Knowing your show statistics and podcast ranking can be a good source of challenge and motivation. If you’re pouring your energy on weekends to record a podcast or investing your hard-earned money to improve your audio quality, knowing that people are listening and subscribing to your show can be a very effective driving force to keep you from podfading. But how exactly are you going to find out what your podcast rank is?
How are Podcasts ranked?
There are no clear/explicit criteria on how podcast directories like Apple Podcast, Stitcher, or Spotify rank shows. However, we are inclined to believe that these are some of the metrics that these directories are using:
- Number of downloads in a certain period
- Number of plays
- Subscribes / Follows
- Listener engagement
- Consumption rate
