How to Transfer Podcast Ownership to a New iTunes Account 3

Access to your podcast statistics on Apple’s Podcast connect is one of the features that you can use to monitor your numbers. However, for those of you who have delegated the submission of your podcast to your podcast manager using their iTunes account, you will have to ask for their logins so you can see your show’s statistics. It’s a cumbersome process and a hassle for both parties.

So if this is your case, then here’s a solution to resolve this problem and ensure that you can access your Podcast Connect dashboard and ultimately transfer podcast ownership to your personal iTunes Account.

What you need to transfer podcast ownership?

  1. We have to make sure that you have access to your RSS feed. We will need that so that we can confirm that we are, or you are the owner of that podcast that’s listed on iTunes that is getting pulled from that RSS feed URL that was submitted to them.
  2. You will also need to have an email address that is already iTunes or podcast connect ready.
  3. And lastly, you will need the iTunes link of your podcast.

So you just have to make sure that you have those three. And with that, let’s go ahead and get started with the actual process.

On the podcast providers window, which is podcast connect. Log in to your account.

Once you’re logged in, what you’re going to do is click on the question mark found at the upper right hand of the screen then click on the contact us link. Now if you click on the topic dropped down, you will see your different options. Uh, since the topic that we’re trying to resolve is the transfer from one iTunes account to another account is not in here. You’ll just have to go ahead and make use of the “other” option, which is my issue is not listed.

Provide the URL of the podcast(s) you’d like to take ownership of. If you have multiple podcasts that you would like to move to your iTunes account and you just have to pace those uh, related podcasts, URLs, it, this field and for the message fill in the there or you would like to regain access to your account, you will just provide the RSS feed URL n the email address that is associated to the iTunes account where you would like to have it available or where you would like to have it transferred.

Once you have that you can just go ahead and click on send. All right, so as you can see here we have here the email from apple. So this is the email that was sent to my client and this provides a details on how to transfer the management of his podcasts and podcast connect. There is a six digit authorization code that was provided and the direction or the instruction is to have this in one of the podcast or iTunes tags a that you can add to, uh, either in the keywords, the name, copyright description or summary Tags. So you will just have to access your RSS feed generator. Now for this one, this is through Libsyn, so if we were, what we’re going to do is we’ll just copy the code.

We’ll just have to log into Libsyn, so from this window we’ll just go ahead and click on edit or view existing and then we’ll go ahead and click on the Libsyn classic feed. We’ll click edit and then we’ll go ahead and insert.

Okay.

The code that was provided by apple, I’ll just go ahead and put this at the end of the summary. From there, what you’ll need to do next is you’ll just have to go ahead and click on save.

Once you have done that, you just have to make sure that it is working perfectly. All right, so we’ll go ahead and check on the RSS feed and we’re going to see if the code, the authorization code that was provided by apple is already in there. So let’s go ahead RSS Opening a new tab.

Okay, well let’s go ahead and do a quick search.

Okay, so there you go. It’s inside the iTunes summary Tag. All right. Since we have that taken care of while it’d be the next step now is to just

follow the rest of the email. So it says there that in order for us for them to verify, we’ll have to reply to this message and using this template that they have provided. So this is the template. We’ll just have to replace those that are in close in parenthesis and that should be good to go. Now once this one is approved, you will also receive another email which is like this.

All right, so you will see there that it has been transferred. The ownership of the podcasts has been transferred to the Apple ID that was nominated as the new account or the new owner of that podcast listing. All right, so that’s it.
